The Military Geographical Institute, Belgrade, Serbia

Military Geographical Institute (MGI) is an institution of the Serbian Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence, which pursues scientific work, development and producing work in fields of Surveying, Photogrammetry, Cartography, Geographical Information System, Cartographic production, Geodetic Metrology and other geodisciplines in order to make geospatial materials.

It is under authority of the Intelligence and Reconnaissance Department of GS SAF.

The Military Geographical Institute presents the results of its own activities in a form of various types of printed and digital maps, plans, photodocuments, astronomy-geodetic, geophysics, alphanumeric, statistic and other data, scientific technical publications and documentations. Significant users of services, data and publications of the Military Geographical Institute are also civil institutions.

Military Geographical Institute is equipped for classical and GPS survey, aerial photographs, photogrammetric restitution, cartographic processing, development of Geographical Information Systems, production of digital and analogue maps and cartographic reproduction.

02.07.2010.
Promotion of Collection of Articles on Scientific meeting on general - national hero Dragoslav Petrovic Gorski, book, a former headchief of the Military Geographical Institute, was held in Krusevac on 7 July this year. Head chief of the Military Geographical Institute assistant professor Mirko Borisov, Ph. D. in technical sciences attended the promotion.

By permission of Minister of defence members of the General Staff working group of the Italian Armed Forces paid an official visit to the Military Geographical Institute on 16 June 2010.

05.06.2010.
General Staff head chief of the SAF, general Miloje Miletic, paid an official visit to the Military Geographical Institute on 4 June 2010.

By the decision of the Minister of defence, organisation of this year Symposium on Operation Research is under Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces. Symposium will be held on Tara mountain in Omorika hotel from 21 to 24 September this year. More information you can find on official website of symposium www.symopis2010.mod.gov.rs.
